Exactly 1 week ago I wrote about making $100 per day. Thanks to all your inspirational comments and a small partnership project I am working on with 2 other people whom I will introduce to you soon, yesterday was another big first for me. All my projects combined for over $300.

How Can You Make Over $300?

The simple answer is by diversifying your income streams. As I review yesterday’s stats, I had income from Adsense, Affiliate Sales, ReviewMe and a small PPC site.

In order, here are broad steps to developing web sites/blogs to make you money.

  1. Excellent content. No doubt about it, this is the most important step. Your web site must have unique, quality content that people want to read.
  2. Regular updates. If you update your web site every day, people will continue coming back daily. If you update once per week or less, you are losing valuable readers. People forget about sites if they are not updated daily. Sure there are some sites that can get away with less frequently updated content, but their content must be the most invaluable source of knowledge in your subject matter. If you update daily, you can get away with very good content, but not necessarily the best in the subject.
  3. Marketing. Market your site, network with other bloggers, etc etc. There are so many different ways to market that this subject will need its own detailed post to explain fully.
  4. Perfect 1 method of monetization. Before you can make money with 5+ income streams like the best bloggers do (John Chow, Shoemoney, Steve Pavlina), get good at making money every day in ONE stream of income. Some may view this as putting all your eggs in one basket, but you are only starting with this one basket. If you cannot make money in one method, how are you going to make money with multiple methods?
  5. Expand to multiple monetization methods. After you’re consistently making money with adsense or another method, then start developing and focusing on another method. Introduce the new methods slowly so you don’t get in over your head. Really RESEARCH the method you are using for hours and hours. It is not an over night thing and not a get-rich-quick scheme. It takes time and knowledge but is more rewarding than most 40 hour per week desk jobs because it becomes your baby. You are solely responsible for developing and growing your projects and income streams, and can measure your success.

I hope this answers some of the email questions I have received about steps on building income streams. Use your prior successful days to build new, more successful days. Your first $25 day will lead to your first $75 day which will lead to your first $500 day. Get creative. I will provide many more posts in the coming weeks with plenty more details. I’d like to take each of the above 5 steps and expand on them in their own posts. Now that you’ve read this, let’s start making money! :) Be sure to share your experiences in the comments section. It helps push everyone to do more and I find your words very encouraging.

  • Be sure to sign up for my free newsletter in the sidebar to get exclusive money making tips that I will not always publish on this web site.
  • If you don’t have hosting for your web site yet, message me for advice. I’ve used 4 different hosts in the last 6 months and have experience in which company might be best for your specific needs.

** Update: An easy way to start making money everyday is PayPerPost which currently has 44 opportunities ranging from $5 - $175 per review. You write the reviews on your blog and as long as you meet the minimum requirements you get paid. You can view the opportunities here.

I tried signing up for ReviewMe but my site www.richminx.com was rejected for not having enough traffic and/or subscribers yet. Do you know what the minimum requirement is?

I believe the only minimum requirements are being around for 3 months and regular post updates.

I just included an update linking to PayPerPost as an opportunity to make money for newer blogs. Try that out.

Jane you are right. I also tried to join PayPerPost, but when I read the terms and conditions, it told that in order to join the blog or site must be at least 3 months old and there should not be a difference of one month in between two post. May be http://richminx.com and http://famefire.com will join PayPerPost at the same time. Huhhh! Just kidding.

Wow! Congratulations! $300/day is awesome. :) And definitely something I’d love to have myself. I can definitely relate with the getting to know and use one monetization method before adding other methods. An old site I had employed 3-5 monetization methods and I ended up with nothing. My newer site only uses 2 and I’m seeing better and more reliable income.

Keep up the postings, they are all helpful and rewarding to read!

So are you taking me out for dinner now?

I’ll make sure you get a happy ending at the end.. I mean, if you’re paying for dinner, you definitely will get some, right?

Congratulations, Jane! I still have a long way ahead of me :)

BTW, it would be interesting to read what kind of marketing approaches do you use?

Thanks!

I was actually looking at the PayPerPost deal, but my blog isn’t 90days old yet, so I don’t qualify just yet. It’s actually older in reality, but it was just somewhere else and not that domain… I’m curious to try PPP, as ReviewMe seems never to have anything available. I did join BloggerWave as well, I was just curious to see about it and got accepted into that, but there isn’t much there as of yet…

Wowzers 300 is nice. I am still making pennies. but I do not have the same content as you.. nor the time to get it right now. 300 a day = 110k a year.. = kick ass

Keep it up.

Yet another great article Jane! I think my biggest issue right now is deciding which monetization model to start with. I have too many going at once. I had one website that I was making $800 a month with adsense and I sold it for a nice chunk of change, but I have yet to get to that point with any other project since. I’ll shoot you an email sometime this weekend with a couple of questions for you. Thanks!

(P.S. From the sound of this crowd, you could sell some autographed photos of you as another monetization model. I think you have some fans with major crushes. :) )

Wow. $800/month? Out of curiosity, what was that site? Or rather, what was the topic?

Wing.

Believe it or not, it was a site on decorating kids’ bedrooms. I did some good keyword research and it paid off. It’s amazing what keywords get left untouched because people don’t do their research.

I think the opposite - start as you mean to go on with ads & affiliates. Then readers are used to seeing the ads and it’s not off putting later on to them – just opinion of course.

Hmmm… I think perhaps the effectiveness of the advertisements, in terms of number on a page, depends on the kind of advertisement and site you have. A site focused on products/goods/services will probably do better with more of a catalog type design and a greater number of descriptive advertisements(image and/or text), while a site which is primarily news of informational might do with less, since the customer’s intent and goals differ. In the first, the customer/visitor is shopping for goods, and would like to see more goods. In the second, the customer/visitor is seeking knowledge/content… and more advertisements just get in the way of that, ala current news sites breaking a 750 word article into 3 pages loaded with advertisements.

;) Of course, if you take into account my average daily earnings right now ( $1.10 / day ) one might take what I say with a grain of salt. :p

I’m currently at a comfortable per day income level, all online, and looking to expand it going forward.
